Role Overview:
The Camp Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of summer and school-break camp programs at the Indiana State Museum. The manager is responsible for program development and implementation, budget, hiring, training, and supervision of camp staff. Primary focus will be on maintaining quality camp experiences for youth, both new and returning camp families. Incumbent will also cultivate relationships with camp families to build life-long learners. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the facilitation of school-based programs and supporting other programs with the department.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,560.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
Research, develop, and facilitate school-aged camp programs and curriculum that align with evaluation data and ISMHS objectives
Analyze and research trends in camp programming and oversee adaptation of current camp curriculum to address changing needs and interests of the public and to take advantage of new opportunities for the museum
Maintain and update camp procedures and policies in line with local and national guidelines
Connect and collaborate with local, regional, and national camp providers
Purchase, maintain, and prepare all materials for camps. This includes preparing camp rooms with needed materials, camp rosters, camp reports and camp curriculum
Work with the Youth Program Manager to evaluate programming on a regular basis, adjusting activities and curriculum as needed
Use the reservation system to monitor registrations and create rosters, check-in materials and reports
Hire, supervise and train contract and intermittent educators assisting with camps
Manage and track camp budget
Work with the Youth Program Manager to align and implement goals, objectives and learning outcomes with department goals and programs
Connect with local school districts or attend promotional events to market school break camps and send out promotional materials
Teach school programs and assist with special school and public programs.
Travel to offsite school programs and school events as needed

What You'll Need for Success:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant work experience
Must have formal and/or informal teaching experience with youth
Excellent communication and customer service while interacting with youth and adults of all ages, abilities and backgrounds
Must be a team player
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, long program days during camp season and some weekends
Ability to research and write programs, reports, and evaluations
Ability to work well and collaborate with other team members to create a unified program experience for all youth
Ability to accept constructive feedback and respond effectively to program evaluations
Strong organizational, critical, and detailed thinking, analysis and networking skills
Familiarity with ADA compliancy rules and procedures and awareness of cultural sensitivity issues
Travel required in local, regional, and statewide area
Have a current Indiana driving license
